For an entry-level gaming laptop, the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 2021 Core i7 11th Gen Laptop offers good value, especially when compared to the competing MSI GF65 or GF66 series.
Most notably, it has Thunderbolt connectivity, RGB keyboard lighting, and a Numpad that the aforementioned MSI models lack. We also like the strong keyboard keys and easy-to-use touchpad on the Asus for an overall more satisfying user experience.

Today we have the Asus TUF F15 i7 Gaming Laptop and we have thoroughly tested it to its extent for almost 6 months and we had a great experience.

Asus TUF Gaming F15 (2021) Core i7 Review: Build Quality & Design
The design has changed from the previous version and comes with the military-grade build quality.
It comes in Eclipse Gray with a metal lid and also comes in a Graphite Black version which has a plastic lid.
Everything else about the ASUS TUF Gaming FX506 is just average for its category. For example, the plastic base is on par with the cheaper Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3, HP Pavilion Gaming 15, or MSI GF65. As a result, the quality of the chassis doesn’t feel better or worse than that of the previous generation FX505.
This is a gaming laptop so it is also heavy. It weighs around 2.3 kg which is good for a gaming laptop.
The bottom design features a honeycomb design with air vents. It recalls the ErgoLift design we’ve seen on many Asus laptops.
It would be better if you keep this gaming laptop on a stand for better air intake.

Asus TUF Gaming F15 Core i7 FX506HM-HN004TS Review: Ports
This laptop comes with a lot of ports and buttons. On the left side, it has a power port, RJ45 LAN port, 1 HDMI, 1 Type C Thunderbolt, 2 USB ports, 3.5mm jack.
On the right – you get 1 USB port and a Kensington lock. On the front.
You also get LED indicators.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 2021 Core i7 FX506HM Review: Backlit Keyboard
Time to Start the Laptop.
The keyboard is a full-sized familiar keyboard with a numeral pad and square keys. These are the backlight RGB keys.
The keyboard is excellent, with a travel distance of 1.8mm. So overall the laptop keyboard is really good.
It’s time to introduce this beast and it looks great with RGB lights.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 (2021) Core i7 11th Gen Laptop Reviews: Display
It has a 15.6″ FHD 240Hz/3ms screen.
The side bezels are quite thin, Asus calls it the Nano Edge Display.
The laptop bottom bezel is a bit big. On top of the bezel, you get an HD webcam along with 2 microphones.
If you are a not hard-core gamer, there is also a 144Hz fast refresh rate variant on a low budget for smooth gaming we have the 240 Hz variant super duper smooth.
The display panel supports 100% sRGB colors, but the display isn’t as accurate in terms of colors, so there’s a Thunderbolt port for connecting to high-quality displays.
Color accuracy is good enough for gaming.
The brushed metal design along with the side angle looks really cool and gives you a gaming vibe.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 i5 Review: Specifications
It comes with Intel-based processors and ranges from Intel Core i5 to Core i9.
We have an Intel Core i5 11th generation variant.
It also has a bigger screen variant – Asus TUF F17 with 17” screen but it supports only up to Intel Core i7.
This time it gets 3000 series GPU as compared to 2000 series on the previous generation. You get two variants i.e. 3050 and 3060 Nvidia GeForce GPU.
Also, the 3060ti variant is available in it.
For RAM you have a 16/32GB variant and you can change the RAM and increase the capacity.
And if you want to replace the RAM, the process is easy by unscrewing a few screws and you can replace the RAM.
For SSD you get 2 slots, 1 is kept empty to increase the storage capacity. You can choose from 512GB/1TB SSD variants for this laptop.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 (2021) i5 11th gen laptop Review: Battery
It has a 90 kWh lithium battery and claims to last for around 10 hours. With moderate usage, you can expect a battery life of around 6-7 hours.
It is based on Intel 10 mn process whereas Ryzen 7 was based on 7nm process so there may be some difference in battery life.
But if you are gaming continuously then the battery life will be reduced further.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 2021 Core i5 Gaming Laptop Review: Performance
It performs really well. We also played heavy games which gave us an output of around 150 fps, so gaming performance was excellent.
If you are playing the game for long sessions, it will get hot but it does not affect the performance. The fans kick on during heavy loads and the performance remains stable.
High CPU and GPU performance allow the FX506HM to punch from its budget to the mid-range range. The limited color and plastic base reproduction, however, bring it back down to earth.
Processor performance from the new Intel 11th generation Core-H platform is also excellent with decent gains over the previous generation. While it doesn’t leap over the latest Zen 3 AMD CPUs by a significant margin, its on-die support for both Thunderbolt and PCIe 4.0 gives it a leg up for users who care about these high-end excellent features.
With bottom intake vents, it also takes in the air intake from the keyboard and you’ll feel it when you’re doing intense work.
Asus says that it has a Cool Zone keyboard design.
This Armory Crate comes with an app that lets you change the fan speed i.e. silent, boost, balance, etc.
You can also customize the keyboard’s RGB lighting on this gaming laptop.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 2021 i5 Review: Connetivity
It supports Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6 so has all the latest connectivity options.
Asus TUF Gaming F15 (2021) Core i5 Review: Multimedia
You will enjoy gaming and content consumption on this laptop. The audio is loud and the sound quality is also great.
The speaker grilles are on the side.
Although it is a gaming laptop, video conferencing is a must these days and for that, it gets a 2-way noise-canceling microphone and this is a handy feature.
